- Ooraminna Station Homestead – Step onto a working outback station and get a real feel for the character of Central Australian station life. Wander the rustic homestead buildings and soak up the charm of a bygone outback era.
- Drover’s Boy Film Set – Explore the set surrounded by rugged outback scenery, where scenes of classic Australian cinema were brought to life. It’s a chance to stand in the landscape that inspired the story and take in the raw, authentic atmosphere of the outback.
- Old Ghan Museum – Browse memorabilia and displays that bring the legendary Old Ghan train back to life, alongside the stories of the pioneers who helped open up Central Australia. It’s a hands-on look at the history that shaped this part of the country.
- Red Dune Desert Lookout – Climb a red sand dune for sweeping, uninterrupted views across the desert to the distant MacDonnell Ranges. It’s one of the best spots on the tour to pause and take in the sheer scale of the outback.

ITINERARY
- Your guide will collect you from outside your Alice Springs accommodation from 7:45 a.m.
- Travelling through the picturesque outback landscape, we make our way along the Old South Road and take in the beautiful landscape scenery while learning about the Finke River, the building of the telegraph line and Finke history.
- Our first stop will be Napwerte/Ewaninga Aboriginal Rock Carvings Conservation Reserve and learn about the petroglyphs made by the early Arrernte Aboriginal people of Central Australia.
- We journey on to Ooraminna Station Homestead, a working cattle station and a unique tourist experience that offers a glimpse into the Australian outback lifestyle. It’s also the home to an outback film set with its own outback saloon that has featured in “The Drover’s Boy”. Enjoy morning tea on the deck of the homestead while taking in the serenity and sounds of the outback.
- We then visit “The Red Sandy Dune” for its beautiful panoramic views and deep red sand before visiting the Ghan Museum where you’ll get to experience the journey of the Ghan train.
- Return to your accommodation approximately midday.
- Airport drop-offs after the tour are available upon request.

What are the departure and return times?
We leave at approximately 7:45 am and return at approximately midday.
Can I bring my family?
Yes. Children aged 2 years and over are welcome on our tour and are charged at a child rate.
All travellers under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian who will be responsible for their care.
What should I bring on the tour?
- Proof of booking (can include the e-version delivered to your email)

- Water bottle (at least 1 litre)
- Strong, non-slip walking shoes
- Hat (wide-brimmed is best)

How many people are on each tour?
We have a maximum of 21 people on each tour. You will travel in a comfortable air-conditioned bus.
How fit do I have to be?
There is a variety of short walks on this tour that can be enjoyed by all ages and fitness levels.
Can my dietary requirements be accommodated?
We are able to cater for one of the following special dietary requests upon request: vegetarian, gluten-free or dairy-free.
